2018 was a whirlwind. 2019 is already looking to be the same (in the best possible way) and we at SoP can’t wait. Here’s what Ims is looking forward to…
2000Trees is a relatively new festival – it’s only been around since 2007, a baby compared to giants like Download and Reading and Leeds, but it’s become one of our absolute favourites. It’s the highlight of mid-July, and we can’t wait for 2019. And neither can anyone else, judging by the amount of people who have already booked tickets without a single band on the bill yet!
It’s hard to imagine a line-up getting much better than 2018’s, with such a fantastically varied bill packed full of Sound of Pen favourites. It’s hard to imagine a more welcoming, intimate atmosphere, from the wood-surrounded acoustic stage to the colourful cheer of the campsites. It’s even hard to imagine better weather!
But we have every faith that 2000Trees will yet again surpass all our expectations and hopes – who would we love to see there this year? The options are limitless. A reunited Creeper, a beautifully chaotic hardcore headline set from Beartooth or Bury Tomorrow, any of the genre-mashing excellence they brought us in 2018 from the likes of ho99o9 or Dream Wife, perhaps? There’s not a doubt that this year, there’ll be even more excitement in store.
They won the UK Festival Award for Best Medium-Sized Festival, and no one could possibly deserve it more – everyone there seems to return year after year, and you can see why in an instant. We could give you 2000 reasons why 2000Trees is one of the things we’re most looking forward to in 2019, but we’d still be going by the time July rolled around, so for now we’ll just remind you to start getting hyped for the first announcements.
