Against The Current return this month in a BIG way. On Saturday (15th), they arrive in Dublin, and from there they head to Bristol – then it’s to Southampton, Norwich, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and, finally, London. By the time the American trio finish their UK tour, their new album – Past Lives – will be out in the world too. Could we be any more excited? Another chance to see the band owning the stage AND a follow-up to 2016’s In Our Bones! The summer may be gone, but our reasons for waking up happy in the morning definitely have not. Will Past Lives be too poptastic? We don’t think so. Sure, latest release, Personal, wouldn’t sound too out of place in a top ten normally dominated by the likes of Sia, Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa, but you only need to listen to the fluttering guitar line at the start of other recent single, Strangers Again, to know that ATC remain the ATC we have always known and loved – and that, emotionally and thematically, they’re as much a rock band as we need them to be. If this month lives even halfway up to our expectations, Chrissy Costanza and co. won’t just be the band of September. They’ll be the band of the year.
